They Called Me Lizzy…from Slavery to the White House

This is the moving tale of Elizabeth Keckly. Born into slavery in 1818, Lizzy managed to purchase her freedom, & made her way to Washington D.C., where her dressmaking skills and entrepreneurial savvy brought her to the attention of Mrs. Lincoln. Join actress Stephanie Jackson as the story of Lizzy unfolds, full of twists and turns, bravery and remarkable resilience. Presented by EAST HADDAM STAGE COMPANY. Written and directed by Kandie Carle.
 
Look Up!: A Conversation About the Nature of Mindfulness

Maker Monday [Grades 5-12]
(Every other Wednesday) February 9 & 23 @ 3-5 PM
Features a different project, from 3D printing to electronics to paper crafts, or you can dig into the MakerLab and explore what interests you. Francis Walsh students can take school bus #5 after school to the Blackstone Library. Have your parent/guardian pick you up at 5PM. No bus service will be available to bring you home.

The presentations are geared specifically towards non-scientists (adults and students).This month they’re breaking down the truth about the ebola virus.
