Connex Credit Union's 'Coins for Change' Program Donates $600 to the Columbus House
Posted on May 28th, 2015

Carl Casper, Vice President of Customer Advocacy, Connex Credit Union (right) presents Sheree DiMario, Volunteer Coordinator, Columbus House with a donation for $599.33. The funds were raised by Connex Credit Union’s “Coins-for-Change” fundraising program.

Saving spare change can add up and Connex Credit Union has discovered a way to utilize these extra coins to make a difference for local charitable organizations. As a part of its community-giving program ConnexCares, Connex Credit Union recently donated $599.33 to Columbus House from the fees collected by Connex’s coin-cashing machine at the North Haven branch. Connex’s “Coins-for-Change” program charges a five percent fee to members and a seven percent fee to non-members and donates the fees collected to charitable organizations in the local community.

“Columbus House is grateful to Connex for their support of our mission to end homelessness” said Sheree DiMario, Volunteer Coordinator, Columbus House.

Columbus House opened its doors in 1982 and since then has been serving those experiencing homelessness as well as those at risk of becoming homeless. Their mission is to provide shelter and housing to adults, families with children and Veterans while fostering personal growth and independence. Those wishing to volunteer, make a contribution or learn more should visit www.columbushouse.org.

If you are a local non-profit or charitable organization interested in participating in the “Coins-for-Change” program, please contact Roquita Johnson at Connex Credit Union, at 203-603-5787 or rjohnson@connexcu.org.
