Connex CU Announces Charities for Coins-For-Change Program
Posted on July 6th, 2015

Connex Credit Union kicks off third quarter “Coins-for-Change” program
benefiting local community organizations for 2015

NORTH HAVEN, Conn. (July 1, 2015) – As part of its community giving program, ConnexCares, Connex Credit Union helps raise more than $11,000 each year through its “Coins-for-Change” program. Connex coin counting machines charge a five percent fee to Connex members and a seven percent fee to non-members. Unlike most machines that charge higher fees and profit from them, Connex donates one hundred percent of the fees to various organizations in the community. Coin cashing machines can be found at four Connex branches in Guilford, Hamden, Meriden and North Haven.

“The Coins-for-Change program is a prime example of our commitment to better serving our surrounding communities,” said Carl J. Casper, vice president of customer advocacy, Connex Credit Union. “Spare change can add up and help make a huge impact on a worthwhile cause. We are proud of our members as they continue to utilize their extra coins to make a true difference. “

From July 1 through September 30, visit:

·         Connex Guilford Branch located at 849 Boston Post Road to donate to Community Dining Room
·         Connex Hamden Branch located at 2100 Dixwell Avenue to donate to  FISH of Greater New Haven
·         Connex Meriden Branch located at Townline Square to donate to Community Soup Kitchen
·         Connex North Haven Branch located at 412 Washington Avenue to donate to Believe in Me Empowerment Corporation

Community Dining Room provides free meals to low income individuals and families.  The funds raised would go towards the purchase of food and general operating costs.

FISH of Greater New Haven delivers free groceries to individuals and families who are homebound and cannot get to the grocery store. This includes the elderly, disabled, and those going through major medical treatments.

Community Soup Kitchen provides free, nutritious meals to those in need, helps support three breakfast sites, and hosts visiting service providers who assist its guests.  Money raised would go towards general operating costs, primarily the purchase of food.

Believe in Me Empowerment Corporation is a social service agency focused on supporting youth, young adults, and their families.  The funds raised will go towards their restoration project, as their New Haven site recently experienced a debilitating fire.
