Friends of the Blackstone Memorial Library Win State Award
Posted on July 9th, 2015

Paul McIlvaine, President of the Friends of Connecticut Libraries, presents a Group Award to the Friends of the James Blackstone Memorial Library, represented by Helen Wong, President; Pam Roy, Vice President, and Betsy Klarman, Immediate Past President.

The outstanding efforts of the Friends of the James Blackstone Memorial Library (Branford) were recognized at the Annual Meeting of the Friends of Connecticut Libraries on June 13.  The Group Award commended the Friends’ many projects to raise community awareness of library resources; their fundraising efforts, including an annual book sale, a sold-out ‘Downton Abbey Tea Party,’ and even an Italian Ice booth at the Branford Festival; and their generous gifts to the library.   The Blackstone is widely considered the most beautiful library in the state, and the Friends provide many of the programs, lectures, additions to the collection, and technology upgrades that make the library a resource as special as the building it occupies.
