Paint Night at the Surf Club Makes Waves
Posted on August 19th, 2015

(Participants of Monday night’s “Paint Night” at the Surf Club show off their works of art.)

Over 35 people flocked to the Madison Surf Club Monday night and unleased their inner artists during a special “Paint Night with Vista,” a social art class offered by the Vista Arts Center.
Joining the fun were special guests and local celebrities Fillmore McPherson, Madison’s First Selectman, architect Duo Dickinson and WTNH newscaster Jim Watkins. Also in attendance was Ibby Carothers, executive producer of iCRV Radio, a local radio station in Chester.
Dickinson, a prominent Madison architect, said what he enjoyed most about the class was being able to re-engage with the fine arts, something he doesn’t often do in his line of work.
“This was great,” he said. “It was a freeing experience.”
Led by artist and Vista employee Samantha Listorti, participants painted a beautiful sunset view of Tuxis Island. Fresh air, a light breeze and the sound of waves coming to shore created a calming ambiance that helped inspire creativity.
“Paint Night with Vista” was born through a partnership with Chamard Vineyards in Clinton, where classes are typically held. The next three “Paint Nights” are scheduled for Monday, Sept. 21st; Monday, Oct. 19th; and Monday, Nov. 23rd. Each class will be held at Chamard Vineyards from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
Classes are open to community members of all artistic skill level—no prior painting experience is required! For more information about upcoming classes or to register for a class, visit the Vista website or contact Amanda Roberts at aroberts@vistavocational.org or (860)399-8080. Space is limited and classes fill fast.
