Co-Working Comes to Guilford
Posted on October 9th, 2015

Promising a “sanctuary for the productive mind,” a collaborative workspace, Guilford Coworking, has set up shop at 14 Water Street near the Guilford Green. It will open its doors to the public on Friday, October 16, 5pm - 7pm, for its official launch party with video presentations and refreshments.
Visitors will learn why freelancers and start-ups are trading in home offices for managed community spaces as part of a global trend accompanying the oft-cited rise of the creative class. Guilford, it turns out, is just the latest stop on an inescapable journey.

The concept’s popularity is fueled by glowing statistics attesting to higher levels of happiness, confidence and productivity among coworking members – a diverse group that includes solopreneurs, independent contractors and temps of all stripes, who extol the following benefits:
Sense of CommunityIncreased Focus & ProductivityHome-Work SeparationAround-the-Clock AccessFlexible Membership Model.  “This setup has a lot to offer those of us working alone but yearning for a community, a way to expand professional networks and connect with like-minded people for ideas, feedback and resources,” said Christian Brachvogel, a translator who started Guilford Coworking. “Guilford Coworking is a place to work, meet, talk and drink coffee. Working alone shouldn’t mean that you’re on your own.”
Comfortably furnished and thoughtfully appointed, the space exudes an informal charm, with 16 workstations, lounge and sitting areas, a private conference room for meetings as well as an oak-clad vintage telephone booth for calls.
Access is 24/7, and a bottomless cup of coffee or tea from Cilantro Specialty Foods is included with a monthly membership priced at $195.
