Use Your Spare Change to Help Make "Change" In Your Community
Posted on October 9th, 2015

As part of its community giving program, ConnexCares, Connex Credit Union helps raise more than $11,000 each year through its “Coins-for-Change” program. Connex coin counting machines charge a five percent fee to Connex members and a seven percent fee to non-members. Unlike most machines that charge higher fees and profit from them, Connex donates one hundred percent of the fees to various organizations in the community. Coin cashing machines can be found at four Connex branches in Guilford, Hamden, Meriden and North Haven.

“We are very proud of how successful our Coins-for-Change program has already been this year and are ecstatic about the impact it has had on the surrounding communities,” said Carl J. Casper, vice president of customer advocacy, Connex Credit Union. “We are delighted  to see our members committing to helping out these worthwhile causes and we look forward to finishing the year as strong as it began. “

From October 1 through December 31, visit:
·         Connex Guilford Branch located at 849 Boston Post Road to donate to Shubert Theatre
·         Connex Hamden Branch located at 2100 Dixwell Avenue to donate to  Clelian Adult Day Center
·         Connex Meriden Branch located at Townline Square to donate to Where the Love Is
·         Connex North Haven Branch located at 412 Washington Avenue to donate to Literacy Volunteers of Greater New Haven

Shubert Theatre presents Broadway shows, comedies, and music and dance performances along with community programming.  Funds would be used to support its education and outreach programs and maintain this 100 year old legendary theatre.

Clelian Adult Day Center serves frail, elderly and disabled adults in a social, spiritual and healthcare environment. Their program is designed to improve the quality of life for each client and allows them to stay viable members of the community.

Where the Love Is is an animal rescue organization run completely by volunteers.  They rescue dogs from high-kill shelters, provide the medical care they require, and find the perfect forever homes for them.

Literacy Volunteers of Greater New Haven recruits, trains, and supports volunteers to tutor adult students through free classes in reading, writing, and English conversation.  The money raised would directly support these programs.
