Blackstone Library Presents Tellabration!
Posted on October 16th, 2015

Tellabration is a mammoth storytelling event - and that's no Tall Tale! It's a storytelling phenomenon, made up of dozens of storytelling happenings all over the world. Its purpose is to introduce adults, as well as children, to the pleasures of the oral art of storytelling.  It is one of the programs offered by The Connecticut Storytelling Center, based at Connecticut College in New London.

The Blackstone Memorial Library, located at 758 Main Street, Branford, CT will host a Tellabration for families on Saturday, November 7th at 11:00 a.m. For more information contact Carly Lemire at 203-488-1441 X323.

M.J. Moriarty will be telling stories and leading the audience in theater games and improvisations based on the stories.  This promises to be a lot of fun for all ages.  No prior experience is necessary.  Come and expect some storytelling skill building and some good laughs.

Mary Joy (MJ) Moriarty has been a full-time performer for children for the past ten years.  As a member of JuggleJoy Educational Entertainment, she performs original works incorporating circus skills and comedy to educate young audiences on a variety of topics from physical science to American history.  As a storyteller, she performs traditional folktales and finger plays, emphasizing audience participation and sharing the joy of language and movement.  She is a teaching artist for the Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts' educational programs and has taught acting and theater to students from pre-school age to senior citizens. She lives in West Hartford, Connecticut with her husband and frequent performance partner, Keith Hughes, and their son James.
