Connex CU Honored with Three First Place Awards for Committment to Customer Advocacy
Posted on November 19th, 2015

Connex Credit Union has been built on the core values of “Improving members’ lives, one member at a time.”

This commitment to customer advocacy was recently recognized by the Credit Union League of Connecticut (CULCT) as Connex received three first place awards at the 2015 Leadership Conference in Mystic , CT. With this accomplishment, Connex advances to the national credit union competition to be held in February 2016 at the Credit Union National Association Governmental Affairs Conference in Washington D.C.

“We are incredibly pleased to have been honored with three first place awards,” said Frank Mancini, president and chief executive officer, Connex Credit Union. “Our commitment is to work with each member to help improve their financial wellbeing. I am proud of the efforts everyone at Connex put forth this year and we look forward to the national competition in 2016.”

Connex received the following first place awards (greater than $250 million asset category):
Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Community Service Award– The “Sock-It-To-Me” program supported Life Haven, Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to providing temporary shelter to homeless pregnant women and women with young children. In addition to an in-kind donation of $1,000, Connex members and employees donated more than 370 items that were distributed amongst the program’s guests.         Louise Herring Philosophy-in-Action Member Service Award – Following its philosophy of improving members’ lives, Connex’s “Vice President of Unbanking” internship program allowed them to better serve their younger members by creating a dedicated role that caters to their needs. The program highlights the fundamental differences between credit unions and banks, and helps demonstrate that a credit union is an alternative to traditional banking.         Desjardins Youth Financial Education Award – Throughout 2015, Connex Credit Union offered a variety of financial literacy workshops to members and non-members. In addition, Connex has forged partnerships with the City of New Haven Public Schools, United Way of Greater New Haven, and the AmeriCorps Teen Resource Awareness Fair to provide financial literacy workshops and information.
