Connex CU to Continue 'Coins-for-Chamge' Program in 2016
Posted on January 5th, 2016

Credit union announces charities for the first quarter of the New Year.

NORTH HAVEN, Conn. (Jan. 5, 2015) – Connex Credit Union is proud to announce that it will be continuing its Coins-for-Change program in 2016.  Since its inception, the Coins-for-Change program has donated over $50,000 to various charities each year.
Connex’s coin counting machines charge a five percent fee to Connex members and a seven percent fee to non-members. Unlike most machines that charge higher fees and profit from them, Connex donates one hundred percent of the fees to various organizations in the community. Coin cashing machines can be found at four Connex branches in Guilford, Hamden, Meriden and North Haven.
“We are elated to continue our Coins-for-Change program in 2016,” said Carl J. Casper, vice president of customer advocacy, Connex Credit Union “Prior to the creation of this program, most of our members did not understand the impact their spare change could create. We are grateful to everyone who has helped make this initiative so successful, and we look forward to carrying that prosperity into the New Year. “

From January 1 through March 31, 2016, you can donate by visiting:

·         Connex Guilford Branch located at 849 Boston Post Road to donate to SARAH
·         Connex Hamden Branch located at 2100 Dixwell Avenue to donate to  Silver City Cadet                     Squadron
·         Connex Meriden Branch located at Townline Square to donate to Master’s Manna
·         Connex North Haven Branch located at 412 Washington Ave. to donate to VetFuel, Inc.

SARAH is a family of agencies that provide programs and services to residents of Connecticut with intellectual and other disabilities.

Silver City Cadet Squadron is a local unit of the Civil Air Patrol non-profit organization that performs homeland security, disaster relief and search and rescue missions. Funds raised would help pay for emergency supplies, uniforms and training missions.

Master’s Manna is a faith-based non-profit serving the homeless, near-homeless, and low to moderate income families and individuals living in the greater Wallingford and Meriden, Connecticut area. They provide food, health services and educational opportunities.

VetFuel, Inc. is a non-profit organization that provides veterans with fuel cards so they will have secure transportation to medical appointments, job interviews and other important engagements.
