Connex CU Donates to Clelian Adult Day Care
Posted on February 26th, 2016

The funds were raised through Connex’s Coins-for-Change program.

Over the concluding quarter of 2015, contributions from visitors at Connex Credit Union’s Hamden Branch helped make a significant impact for a local community group.  As a part of its philanthropic program ConnexCares, Connex Credit Union recently donated more than $600, from the fees collected by Connex’s coin-cashing machine at their Hamden branch, to Clelian Adult Day Center. The Coins-for-Change program charges a five percent fee to members, a seven percent fee to non-members and donates the fees collected to charitable organizations in the local community.

“The Clelian Adult Day Center is very thankful for the generous donation from the Coins-for-Change program,” said Sister Cecelia Marie Scaduto, director, Clelian Adult Day Center. “The money will be used for art therapy classes for our clients suffering from dementia. Art therapy is an effective means for a person with dementia to express their creativity and experience a sense of accomplishment.”

Clelian Adult Day Center serves frail, elderly and disabled adults in a social and spiritual healthcare environment. The program is designed to improve the quality of life for each client and allows them to remain viable members of the community. The Center provides health-related community living support services as an alternative to 24-hour home care or premature institutionalization. For more information, or to donate, please visit their website www.cleliancenter.org.

If you are a local non-profit or charitable organization interested in participating in the “Coins-for-Change” program, please contact Roquita Johnson at Connex Credit Union, at 203-603-5787 or rjohnson@connexcu.org.
