Connex CU Impacts Community with Coins for Change Program
Posted on April 11th, 2016

NORTH HAVEN, Conn. (April 8, 2016) – Connex Credit Union proudly announces the charities that will receive donations from its coins-for-change program during the second quarter of 2016. This philanthropic initiative has been a successful addition to its ConnexCares program, donating more than $50,000 since its inception.
Connex’s coin counting machines charge a five percent fee to Connex members and a seven percent fee to non-members. Unlike most machines that charge higher fees and profit from them, Connex donates one hundred percent of the fees to various organizations in the community. Coin cashing machines can be found at four Connex branches in Guilford, Hamden, Meriden and North Haven.
“Each quarter, we cherish the opportunity to make a major impact on an array of deserving charities,” said Carl J. Casper, vice president of customer advocacy, Connex Credit Union “The spare change we often neglect can add up, and together we can utilize it to help improve our surrounding community “
From April 1 through June 30, 2016, members and non-members can donate by visiting:
·         Connex Guilford Branch located at 849 Boston Post Road to donate to Ronald McDonald House of Connecticut
·         Connex Hamden Branch located at 2100 Dixwell Avenue to donate to  Arts for Learning Connecticut
·         Connex Meriden Branch located at Townline Square to donate to Spanish Community of Wallingford
·         Connex North Haven Branch located at 412 Washington Avenue to donate to Y.L.T.R.A.P.P.E.D
Ronald McDonald House of Connecticut (RMHCT) is the only Ronald McDonald House in the state.  Its mission is to serve as a “home away from home” for children and families who are being treated at nearby hospitals and healthcare facilities.  RMHCT provides housing, meals, transportation, and more to these families.
Arts for Learning Connecticut is a state-wide arts in education non-profit that is based in Hamden. Donations raised would help with their arts in education programming to benefit Hamden students and families.
Spanish Community of Wallingford responds to the needs of the local Latino community with a number of services and resources. Funds raised will help with tuition scholarships for their music program students.
Young Ladies Taking Responsibility and Portraying Proper Educational Development (Y.L.T.R.A.P.P.E.D) is an organization whose goal is to teach and equip young women, ages 14-21, with the knowledge and skills to become productive, successful members of society. Funds raised would help with the college-readiness program.
