Knowledge is Power - Free Workshops for Your Financial Well Being
Posted on April 26th, 2016

NORTH HAVEN, Conn. (April 20, 2016) – The first step in achieving financial freedom is to understand the nuances that affect your fiscal situation. Connex Credit Union, one of Connecticut’s largest credit unions, hosts a series of free financial education workshops throughout the year as part of its ConnexCares initiative. The workshops are taught by industry professionals and are filled with information designed to help educate consumers on financial topics and how to set and achieve financial goals. In May, the credit union will be hosting two free educational seminars.
The first workshop is entitled “Credit Score 101” and will be presented by Kerry Perrotta, branch manager of Connex’s Guilford branch. This workshop will serve as the ultimate “How-To Guide” for understanding your credit score. You will learn what a credit score is, why it matters, how to establish credit and what hurts your credit score. This workshop will take place on Thursday, May 5, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Connex Credit Union’s North Haven branch located at 412 Washington Avenue. The seminar will also be available via WebEx for those who would prefer to attend online.
The second workshop, “Online Security,” will be hosted by Connex Information Technology Network Engineer Mohammad Usman, along with a special guest speaker from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). This informative workshop will discuss ways to protect your personal data online, avoid virus and phishing scams and more. This free no-obligation workshop will occur Thursday, May 12, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Connex Credit Union’s North Haven Branch located at 412 Washington Avenue. The seminar will also be available via WebEx for those who would prefer to attend online.
Anyone interested in attending a workshop must call 1-800-CR-UNION (1-800-278-6466) or visit connexcu.org to register. During registration you will choose if you are attending in person or online. The workshops are open to members and non-members of the credit union, but act fast, seats are limited.
