Vista to Host Brain Injury Survivor, Author at Scranton Library

Vista Life Innovations and the Scranton Library in Madison are partnering to host a book signing and discussion featuring author Jennifer Field on November 14 at 5:30 p.m.

Jennifer’s recently released book, From Blue Ribbon to Code Blue: a Girl’s Courage, Her Mother’s Love, a Miracle Recovery, tells the story of her hard-fought journey to recovery after suffering a traumatic brain injury in her teens.

Jennifer dreamed of becoming a champion equestrian from an early age. By the time she reached high school, she was an accomplished rider, having won top prizes at competitions throughout the United States and Canada. At 17, she had her sights on the Olympics. But her Olympic dream came to an end following a near-fatal car accident that left her in a coma. Doctors told her mother, co-author Joanne Field, that she would never walk or talk again.

Since the accident 24 years ago, Jennifer has graduated college with honors, become an inspirational keynote speaker and founded the J. Field Foundation to support individuals with traumatic brain injuries.

"Whatever your challenges, never say never,” Jennifer said. “Don’t be discouraged, keep moving forward. I did it one baby step at a time, and I keep at it.”

This free event will be held at the Scranton Library, 801 Boston Post Road, Madison. To register, please visit www.vistalifeinnovations.org/jenniferfield
