She Started It - A Documentary About Women Entrepreneurs - September 28th at Guilford High School
Posted on August 1st, 2017

Are you a Woman Entrepreneur in the Tech Industry?

Guilford Public Schools will be hosting a one-time screening of She Started It – a new empowering documentary on female entrepreneurs -  at the Performing Arts Center at Guilford High School on September 28th at 7pm. We would welcome your participation in a panel discussion with the audience following the screening.

She Started It gives a new face to the popular image of the tech entrepreneur: a female face. The 60-minute film follows five young women over two years as they strive to compete and thrive in high tech start up by pitching VCs, building teams, bringing products to market, failing and starting again. The film weaves in big-picture perspectives from women like investor Joanne Wilson; White House CTO Megan Smith; GoldieBlox CEO Debbie Sterling; and Ruchi Sanghvi, the first female engineer at Facebook.

The women of She Started It are diverse and highly relatable, and they set a powerful example – to inspire the next generation to dream bigger, and urge today’s generation to support women entrepreneurs. There are lessons in the film for parents, teachers, employers, investors and of course, young women and girls.

If you are a woman entrepreneur in a business related to technology, engineering or science we would welcome your participation in a panel discussion with our audience – primarily middle and high school girls and their families from Guilford, Branford, and Madison – following the screening of She Started It. We need your help to raise awareness about the issues women entrepreneurs face and spark conversation about solutions to empower the next generation. We need our girls and young women to see real stories of success and empowerment both in the film and in their community.

If you are interested in joining us for the evening and participating in the panel discussion, or if you have questions, please contact Guilford Public Schools science teacher Kristin Skelly at skellyk@guilfordschools.org. Thank you in advance for your interest!
