The Branford Food Pantry is Seeking Turkey Donations for Families in Need This Holiday Season
Posted on October 9th, 2017

Wanted: 500 Turkeys
The Branford Food Pantry needs 500 turkeys.
We deliver groceries and turkeys to an estimated 250 needy Branford  families for both Thanksgiving , Christmas and the December holy days so we are now soliciting help and the donation of turkeys.
Too many families live a life of hard choices so many of them would not enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving without our help.
The need is for birds that are mostly 12 to 16# each, fresh or frozen and we have large freezers to accommodate them until needed. We are asking Chamber members to consider doing a business turkey drive or making a cash donation and we will buy what is needed. In the past, we have been successful only because of generous community business support.
We think it is important that all families have an opportunity to enjoy the traditional holiday dinners and it is clear that we make a difference  And, kids don’t understand why they can’t celebrate like other families. You can make a difference.
If you can provide  turkeys they can be dropped off at 30 Harrison Ave. (lower level, right side of the building) on Tuesdays or Fridays between 8 and 11 a.m.  For large donations or for special issues, you can call Jay Webb at 203-215-3533 to make arrangements or to answer questions.

The Branford Food Pantry provides groceries to Branford families in need. Over 200,000 pounds of food is distributed annually to an average of 178 different families a month but services reach over 400 different families a year. We are a non-profit corporation using 100% volunteer workers and operate out of the Volunteer Services Center at 30 Harrison Ave. Clients are screened and qualified for assistance by the Branford Counseling Center. Clients include the elderly, physically and mentally challenged, disabled, single parent families, those out of work and the working poor. Food is donated or purchased as resources allow.
