​Marc Potocsky at Branford Art Center May 20th
 
Artist Mark Potocsky will be the featured artist at the May 20th Two Year Anniversary Celebration of Branford Art Center, 1229 Main St, Branford, from 5 – 8 PM. His nationally recognized paintings of famous sports, cinema, and music figures will be displayed throughout the gallery and studio.  All are invited to meet Marc and view his work, enjoying the wine, refreshments and smooth jazz music. 
 
Marc Potocsky of Branford, CT, honed his skills in photo realism and portrait painting. Marc has done numerous sports art paintings for Victory Fine Art (VFA)  in Los Angles. Marc was commissioned to do the NFL Super bowl 50th Anniversary painting for VFA. He has been featured on the TV show “This Old House” and “Extreme Home Makeover.” Marc has done work in the newly restored Yale Art Gallery. Marc is a portrait and fine artist and the owner along with his son of MJP Studios, a full service decorative painting company. Marc’s work has been featured at the prestigious Salon, an international gathering of Decorative Artists from all around the world and in books such as “Mural painting-Secrets for success” and “Designer Faux Finishes.” Marc has also lectured on Decorative Painting and Murals at the University of New Haven and has been commissioned to do three paintings of the One World Center-Freedom Tower in NYC. ​Dr. Chen grew up in Pennsylvania and first came to Connecticut to study at Wesleyan University where she earned her Bachelor of Arts. Her inspiration to pursue a career in dentistry came from her work at the Community Health Center in Middletown, where she developed a passion for healthcare and an appreciation for serving members of the community. Dr. Chen received her DMD at the University of Connecticut, a program that integrates dental health with whole body health.

Dr. Chen practiced family dentistry in Northeast Philadelphia for four years. Her experience serving a diverse, urban neighborhood has been the foundation of her practice philosophy to treat every patient with respect and individualized care. Dr. Chen is committed to educating and enabling her patients to be active participants in their treatment planning. She delivers quality dental care with a gentle hand and compassionate heart.

Dr. Chen lives in Branford with her husband Jim and their rescue dog Tesla. She enjoys swimming, spicy food, and exploring the New Haven area.

Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer
Financial industry veteran promoted after four years as vice president of Customer Advocacy

 
NORTH HAVEN, Conn. (May  1, 2017) –  Connex Credit Union proudly announces that Carl Casper has been promoted to executive vice president and chief operating officer after serving four years as vice president of Customer Advocacy. Casper offers nearly three decades of financial experience and oversees the Retail Branch Network, Contact Center, marketing department, consumer lending and compliance function.

Since joining Connex in 2013, Casper has significantly expanded the credit union’s products and services by capitalizing on knowledge gained through his previous leadership roles at Citizen’s Bank, Hudson United Bank and, most recently, Webster Bank. One of his most impactful contributions, the ConnexCares charitable initiative, donates more than $30,000 annually and has helped foster a positive environment for Connex’s members and the communities it serves.

Furthermore, Casper lead the charge in promoting financial literacy throughout the local area. He helped establish a variety of programs, for both members and non-members, that provide the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate today’s labyrinth of fiscal options. These events have received both statewide and national recognition for their accomplishments.
As a strong advocate for the credit union movement, Casper has attended the Credit Union National Association’s (CUNA) Governmental Affairs Conference the past four years to lobby and ensure legislators understand the unique and necessary role credit unions have within our communities and financial services industry. He is also presently chairman of the Credit Union League of Connecticut’s (CULCT) Consumer Awareness Committee.

Casper graduated from the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance & Economics before earning his MBA in Finance from Quinnipiac University. He has a long history of board service for several non-profit organizations including a current position as secretary on the Board of Benhaven in Wallingford, Connecticut – a group assisting individuals on the Autism spectrum.
