​VNA SOUTH CENTRAL UNVEILS NEW LOOK
112-year New Haven based VNA Rebrands for the Future
 
NEW HAVEN, Conn.,— December 7, 2016 — Visiting Nurse Association of South Central Connecticut, Inc. released a new logo, brand and tagline as part of an organizational rebranding initiative today.  Over the next few months, VNA South Central, the now standard abbreviated name, will be launching a new website, and all new internal and external documents and communication used by the agency. 

The new logo and tagline "Committed to making a difference!" was created with the help of Andrew Eaves, Principal of a.m.eavesConsulting, LLC based in Prospect, CT. Eaves developed the tagline when facilitating the Executive Leadership team in a strategic planning retreat in September.  The logo used the original blue and green colors of the former VNA South Central logo and adds a third, bright orange accent to the brand.  “Throughout our process, there was a central theme that emerged: VNA South Central defines itself by how it serves others and delivers value. In a dynamic and increasingly sophisticated healthcare landscape, the new brand platform captures not only this commitment to service, but also the fresh thinking that they bring to being innovators with their clinical programs and partnerships. It’s been a pleasure to help them begin to tell their story in a new way,” says Eaves.

Recently, VNA South Central announced it's new President & CEO/Administrator, Lisa Dupuis, OTR/L, MBA who  re-joined the company in July 2016.  Dupuis had worked for the organization several years ago in a Quality Management leadership position and was most recently the President & CEO of another home care agency.  Under her direction, VNA South Central will be forging ahead in an uncertain and rapidly changing home health industry, "We never want to lose sight of our mission:  dedicated to enhancing the health, well being and quality of life at home and in the community it serves.  In addition to making a difference to these individuals for over a century, we are showing the community-at-large: physicians, hospitals and those who support us with grant funding, that we are using the most advanced technology and home health practices for all of our patients, that we are flexible in meeting market demands and we strategically and effectively address the varying needs of a very broad patient base." 

Along with the new brand will be a rollout of new marketing materials through VNA South Central's liaisons.  "Everyone knows who we are and knows our strong reputation, but they have a limited knowledge of why we are great.  That’s an important part of who we are and how we make a difference. It’s what sets us apart and delivers the value-added we bring to patient care. We have  technology, such as telehealth and specialty clinical programs for high-risk diagnoses that aim to lower patient readmission rates and improve patients' quality of life, yet, we've never really had the literature to show people how we make a difference to them and their patients," comments Christine Fitzsimons, Director of Business Development. 
 
The company unveiled its new logo and tagline to the staff on with an office celebration on November 30th.  The logo was featured on a cake to thank all staff for their dedication to the organization and to celebrate the new chapter at VNA South Central.

​Open Arts Day Announced
at Guilford Art Center
 
 
Guilford, CT — Guilford Art Center is pleased to invite all community members to the 6th annual Open Arts Day on Sunday, January 8, 2017, 1-3pm. This event is free and open to the community.
 
The Art Center’s studios and classrooms will be open with instructor artists demonstrating their crafts and offering hands-on art projects.  Visitors are invited to try out a variety of art forms that they want to learn more about, including Pottery, Blacksmithing, Painting, Drawing, Stone Carving, Kids’ classes and more.
 
Open Arts Day coincides with the final day of Guilford Art Center’s Artistry: American Craft for the Holidays, open 12-5pm. All merchandise is on sale!
 
No reservations or registration are necessary, and all activities are free of charge.
 
Guilford Art Center is located at 411 Church Street (Route 77), Guilford, across from the police station.

​Connex Credit Union Collecting Household Items Until December 13
To Support Widowed Mother of Five as Part of the “Adopt-A-Family” Program
Family of six forced to relocate after losing father and husband in car accident

 Connex Credit Union announces that it has partnered with New Reach, a 501(c)3 charity committed to building hopeful futures for those experiencing poverty in Connecticut, for its 12th annual Adopt-A-Family program. This initiative was created to help New Reach provide gifts and essentials during the holiday season for its neediest families. Connex has “adopted” a widowed mother and her five children, and will be collecting donations from both members and non-members as part of its annual holiday drive at all seven locations until December 13.
This family was forced to relocate to a new home after a tragic accident took the life of their husband and father during the summer. Many of their personal items were discarded during the move and the mother is working tirelessly at her part-time job to stabilize her family and rebuild their home.

Each Connex branch will be collecting different items that have been requested by the family:

Guilford – Items for the Mother
North Haven and Hamden – Toys
Orange and Meriden – Winter clothing items
Branford and New Haven – Bedding items

Those unable to visit a specific location can bring items to their local Connex branch. These designations are guidelines, but all branches will be accepting any donation.

For suggested products, please visit your local Connex branch or call 1-800-CR-UNION. Additional information is also available on Connex’s website and Facebook page. Monetary donations and Wal-Mart gift cards are also appreciated.

“We take great pride in our efforts to better the community through our ConnexCares program,” said Carl Casper, vice president of customer advocacy, Connex Credit Union. “Every donation helps, and we encourage our members and the community to join us in bringing joy to a family that truly needs it.”

You do not need to be a Connex member to contribute and all donations will be accepted.

Extra items or duplicates will be distributed to other families in New Reach’s program.

​Launch Of CT Mediation & Arbitration Services, LLC Announced and Partners with Your End of Life Doula Offering a Coffee Talk – “Naughty or Nice – Keeping the Peace with Family over the Holidays”

Connecticut Mediation and Arbitration Services, LLC, based in Guilford, was recently founded to provide individuals and businesses non-adversarial methods to resolve their conflicts.  The company offers mediation for wills and probate disputes, civil litigation and family law matters including divorce and custody.   The Company provides a unique perspective of the alternative dispute process by crossing more spectrums than other companies coupled with offering a span of mediators and arbitrators to meet your specific needs.

President Cynthia Cartier is passionate about this subject, wanting to ensure that people are able to resolve issues in an amicable manner.  "I founded the company to provide individuals and businesses non-adversarial methods to settle their disagreements, through mediation. Mediation is about working together to find agreeable solutions, thereby also avoiding lengthy conflicts that often escalate."
