NORTH HAVEN, Conn. (Oct. 19, 2017) – As part of its ConnexCares philanthropic initiative, Connex Credit Union recently donated $2,000 to Connecticut Children’s Medical Center in Hartford as part of Miracle Jeans Day. This national campaign sponsored by Credit Unions for Kids raises funds to help Children’s Miracle Network hospitals across the country adopt life-saving equipment and perform breakthrough research.

Any Connex employee who donated five or more dollars was permitted to wear jeans to work on Wednesday, September 13, 2017. Anyone exceeding $25 also received a commemorative t-shirt. Additionally, Connex collected member donations and matched the total contributions up to $1,000 – donating a total of $2,000.

“Improving our surrounding communities is one of the core values Connex is built upon and it made me incredibly proud to witness the selfless efforts put forth by both our employees and members to support Connecticut Children’s Medical Center,” said Carl Casper, executive vice president and chief operating officer, Connex Credit Union. “Participating in Miracle Jeans Day has been an immensely rewarding experience and we look forward to contributing again next year.”

What is it about the Branford Green that we find so compelling, so beautiful?  How did it happen, over time, that these buildings sit in such an interesting relationship to each other, as well as to the greenspace around them?  Is there a story?  Local architect Tony Terry will piece together the threads of his own research and lend his perspective again, on his second Walking Tour of the Churches on the Branford Green.

It will include interesting notes on all 5 significant structures as well as a visit to each of the three churches, hosted by the ministers.  Although Tony is not an historian, this is meant as a blend of history and an architect’s perspective, reading between the lines of the events that put the buildings into form and their particular place, in the most iconic public space of Branford’s history and one of the most unique of New England’s town greens.

The tour will begin at the Academy on the Green on Saturday morning, Oct 28, at 11, and it will be about 2.5 hrs in duration.  All are welcome but it will be most appreciated if you register, by replying to this e-mail BACA06405@gmail.com – with names/number of people
