The New Haven Middlesex Association of Realtors is sponsoring a Blood Drive, at NHMR Headquarters, 2730 Boston Post Rd, Guilford, CT on January, 21st from 10am-3pm.
The need for blood donations is especially urgent during this slower time of year. Hospitals are relying on the community to help meet critical needs.

The Story:· Amid ongoing blood shortages, Connecticut Blood Center (CTBC) remains committed in our mission to help save lives in our community.· The last few years have been challenging, as we’ve faced multiple blood emergencies. This is part of a national trend, as blood donations have not returned to pre-pandemic levels but demand for blood is up.· Now more than ever, it’s important that healthy individuals consider rolling up their sleeves to potentially save three lives.· It takes less than an hour of someone’s time to save up to three lives. We are encouraging all members of the community to donate.· There have been many moments in the last few years where our blood center has only had 2-3 days’ worth of blood supply for hospitals. That is dangerously low compared to the ideal 5-7 days.The Stats:· 62% of the U.S. population is eligible to donate, but just about 4% of Connecticut’s population donates.· 25% of blood supply is used by patients battling cancer and roughly 1800 units of blood is used by pediatric patients across the country daily.
