GHS Soccer Breast Cancer Awareness Fundraiser

GHS girls and boys soccer players, gathered here, don’t usually have an ulterior motive for packing the stands. But Monday, October 2, when Guilford Grizzlies’ Girls and Boys Varsity teams take on Daniel Hand in a 5pm/7pm double-header at GHS Kavanaugh Stadium (girls first!), Smilow Cancer Hospital will be the clear benefactor if not the sole victor. That’s because the GHS Midfielders soccer booster club has once again transformed the Guilford-Madison rivalry into an all-out Smilow fundraiser in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month. Every dollar slid into a donation bucket, every raffle ticket, and every brownie, pizza slice, and warming cup of cocoa sold becomes ammunition for the deeply personal battles against cancer waged 24/7 at Smilow.

It’s all about coming together to crush last year’s donation. Meanwhile, to further rev community spirit, GHS Midfielders and the Soccer Club of Guilford have taken the opportunity to invite SCOG’s GHS U10 Girls and U10 Boys players to accompany Grizzlies starting players onto the field before each game starts. GHS players plan to sport pink socks, and hope to look out on a sea of pink. Can’t attend, but wish to support this community effort?
